Superior finish without post-processing

The equipment is exceptionally easy to operate, and mastering the weld head does not require years of training. The laser-welded seam is remarkably bright, uniform, and smooth. This significantly reduces or entirely eliminates the need for grinding, polishing, or other expensive finishing stages.

Energy-efficient, safe, and distortion-free

Laser welding is an eco-friendly and energy-efficient method for joining metals. Because the heat input is precise and localized, the workpieces do not heat up nearly as much as in traditional welding. This improves workplace safety and virtually eliminates material heat distortion.

What is laser welding and how does it work?

Laser welding utilizes a high-energy, precision-focused laser beam that melts metal almost instantaneously. This method enables a narrow yet deep weld seam, resulting in exceptionally strong and durable joints. The laser-welded finish is high-quality, consistent, and clean even when using a handheld machine, which drastically lowers the need for post-processing.

Unlike traditional methods, fiber laser technology provides stable and repeatable results even with challenging materials. W2M Laser equipment is certified to meet rigorous industrial standards: our handheld laser welders comply with EN ISO 15614-11:2002 requirements for 316L stainless steel (1–4 mm material thickness). It is a highly efficient upgrade for any application where spot, MIG, or TIG welding has traditionally been used.

FAQ – Laser welding

Is laser welding safe for the operator and the material?

Laser welding is a very safe process when appropriate safety measures are followed. Since the heat input is precise and brief, the workpieces do not reach the same temperatures as in traditional welding. This increases operator safety and protects the material from thermal distortion. Standard safety requirements include appropriate laser safety glasses and, if necessary, localized fume extraction.

Does operating the machine require specialized expertise or long-term training?

No. W2M Laser welding machines are designed to be extremely user-friendly. Handling the weld head does not require years of practice. The high-quality, uniform, and clean weld seam is achievable even with manual operation, making this method much easier to adopt than traditional welding techniques.

How does laser welding differ from traditional TIG or MIG welding?

The main differences are speed and finish: laser welding is up to 2–10 times faster than traditional arc welding. Furthermore, the resulting weld seam is so smooth and clean that the need for grinding or polishing is significantly reduced or eliminated, saving substantial time and costs in the production process.

Can the machine be operated continuously without breaks?

Durability and efficiency are at the core of W2M Laser equipment design. Our machines can be operated continuously without productivity-draining cooling cycles, ensuring maximum uptime for your business processes.

What materials can be welded with the machine?

W2M Laser welding machines are suitable for joining practically all metals. They are particularly effective for materials used in the sheet metal industry. Our equipment meets the EN ISO 15614-11:2002 standard for 316L stainless steel with material thicknesses of 1–4 mm.
